Mission Statement

We believe that music and dance are essential to the development of the human being. The connections between music, movement and brain development in people of all ages has been well demonstrated, and music education has been shown to improve brain function in both mathematics and language. Music fosters social interaction and a sense of community. Children have a natural, instinctive reaction to rhythm and love to dance.

In a culture that all too often neglects these essential activities, we feel it is more important than ever to provide kids with experiences with live music.

This music is a part of our shared American heritage. The fiddle and the tunes we play come to us primarily from the British Isles and Ireland. The banjo comes to us originally from The Gambia, on the western coast of Africa; it is a quintessentially American instrument. The rhythms and melodies of these instruments help to tell story of our country.
